Farm Bureau Celebration Stocks Ronald McDonald House Pantries
BUCKHANNON, WV – West Virginia Farm Bureau will again observe “Food Check-Out,” an event designed to raise awareness about the abundance of healthy, affordable food produced by America’s farmers and ranchers.
Prior to Food Check-Out observances, WVFB members have been collecting donations and shopping at area grocery stores, purchasing non-perishable foods and paper products. These items will be donated to the three Ronald McDonald Houses in West Virginia.
Ronald McDonald Houses in Charleston, Huntington and Morgantown provide overnight housing, cooking, bathing and laundry facilities for families of sick children undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals. Last year, WVFB donated more than $20,000 in cash, goods and supplies to help stock the pantries in each Ronald McDonald House.
This year, the Huntington shopping event will take place on Thursday, April 21 at the Barboursville Kroger at 10:00 a.m. On Friday, April 22, members will gather at the Kanawha City Kroger at 5717 MacCorkle Avenue SE at 10 a.m. Shopping for the Morgantown Food Check Out event will take place on Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. at Kroger on Patteson Drive. Groceries will be delivered to the local Ronald McDonald House following each shopping event. If you would like to participate or donate, call the West Virginia Farm Bureau at 800-398-4630 x. 306.
