Oil
and gas drilling issues for landowners to be discussed at Elkins,
Moorefield meetings
BUCKHANNON, WV –The West Virginia Farm Bureau and the West
Virginia Surface Owners’ Rights
Organization will sponsor two meetings to discuss the rights of
landowners in regard to the exploration for oil and gas.
On Friday, June 11, a meeting will be
held at the Holiday Inn in downtown Elkins. The meeting will
begin at 6:30 pm, and will focus primarily on surface owners’ rights,
with a shorter presentation on leasing. The meeting will particularly
benefit landowners who do not own their minerals, or landowners
who own their minerals but have already signed a lease, or those
who are about to lease and want to know about the limited protections
they will have if they are not specified in the lease.
The second meeting will be held at 10 am, Saturday, June 12,
at the Moorefield Public Library. This meeting will focus on leasing
issues and will include slides of what some well sites look like
as they are drilled.
