Charleston, WV – During the WV Farm Bureau Day at the Legislature, Commissioner of Agriculture Kent Leonhardt and his wife Shirley personally donated $1,000 dollars to WVFB Mobile Lab Coordinator Michelle Bailey. Donations such as this are what help keep the cost down for the schools to enjoy the mobile unit at their school. WVFB Mobile Lab donations help keep supplies in the unit, maintain the upkeep of the lab, and the cost down for the schools that request the unit.
The WVFB Mobile Agriculture Education Science Lab travels the state, setting up at elementary schools one week at a time. During the week that the lab is at the school, students learn how important agriculture is in our everyday lives. Today’s generations are 3 generations removed from the farm. With the lessons that the WVFB Mobile Lab Teachers teach each week, we can help students make a connection back to agriculture.
The WVFB Mobile Agriculture Education Science lab is currently 2 years booked out. The unit starts rolling in September and doesn’t stop until May, educating students throughout WV.
